Raising the Bar
Let’s be real—most of the meat industry is a mess.

Four massive corporations control 97% of the market, and they’re not exactly known for their commitment to standards — quality, transparency, or doing right by farmers, animals, or the land. Their business model? Factory farms, feedlots and suffering. Yuck.
Companies like Omaha Steaks and Good Chop? – their meat is coming from huge feedlots. No way!
Even brands that sound better—companies like ButcherBox and Verde—are shipping “grass-fed” beef from halfway around the world. We’re talking meat from Australia, Uruguay, and who-knows-where, all so they can cut costs while selling you the illusion of something better.
We’re not playing that game.
At Walden, we’re not just raising our standards. We’re building a better food system from the ground up—one that’s healthier in every way. Healthier for the land. Healthier for communities. Healthier for animals. Healthier for farmers. And ultimately, healthier for you.
Why We’re Frustrated (And Why You Should Be Too)
Big Ag treats food like a numbers game, not something that nourishes people. They take shortcuts at every turn—packing animals into confinement, overusing antibiotics, and feeding them whatever scraps they can get away with (yep, even plastic). They’ve convinced us that industrialized meat is “normal.”
It’s not. And we refuse to settle for it.
What We’re Doing About It
We’re doubling down on what makes Walden different. We’re not here to follow the industry—we’re here to raise our own standards. That means:
- More Independent Family Farms – We’re expanding our network of hardworking, small-scale farmers who actually care about their land, animals, and community. No faceless mega-feedlots—just real farmers doing things the Walden Way.
- More Grazing, More Regenerative Farming – Pasture-raised should mean something. More of our cattle will be raised on open grass, moving naturally, helping build healthier soil, and improving the land rather than depleting it.
- More Animals on Pasture, More Often – Real farming works with the seasons, not against them. Our farmers are adapting their practices to keep animals on pasture as much as possible—not locked away in barns for half the year.
This isn’t just about better meat. It’s about fixing what’s broken and creating a thriving food system that gives back more than it takes.
Because This Is About More Than Meat
This is about cultivating something better—for the land, for farmers, for communities, and for the future. It’s about knowing where your food comes from, feeding your family the healthiest, tastiest meat possible, and supporting the farmers who are actually doing things the right way — The Walden Way.
Factory farming doesn’t feed the world. It ruins it.
So we’re doing better. For you, for the land, for the future of food.
Let’s bring farms back to the table.

Why Walden Members Matter—From a Farmer Who Lives This Every Day
When farmers know that there is a market that will support regenerative production—not just philosophically, but economically—they are far more willing to step away from systems that no longer serve them or the land. When consumers consistently choose food that reflects their values, they help make those transitions possible.
